John Nalbandian's Biography
John Nalbandian retired from the School of Public Affairs and Administration at the University of Kansas with national recognition for his teaching, research, and service. John’s academic career focused on educating students for careers in local government, helping the university earn its U.S. News and World Report number one university ranking in “city management and urban policy” education. John’s academic experiences are enriched by eight years as an elected city commissioner in Lawrence, Kansas, including terms as mayor. John continues his work with local government professionals and elected officials providing workshops and presentations on “high performance governing.” John’s career includes service on many local boards and commissions, including most recently heading a city council-initiated task force exploring modifications in Lawrence’s form of government. John’s goal as a board member is to encourage and support collaboration among community organizations, helping to build community in Lawrence and Douglas County, KS.
